Monday

...edible

when you are not in a christmas mood these are the decorations you should make: it takes a minimum of effort and you can eat them while you make them. All you need is weird christmas chocolates and colourful string or yarn. Put two pieces of chocolate together and threat them and hang them in your windows! -i made two and ate the rest of the chocolates....
Check out my trip down christmas memory lane on the fabulous Dos Family today!

Marie: that is really really cool. i feel like i should do more now!
Máni: im very intolerant to changes in my christmas! i wan't it to be just as when i was a kid -so no tree sounds very sad -but also climate friendly!
maikki: aww send me some snow! that would get me in the mood! i hope that Elinor can bring me back the christmasspirit when she gets a couple of years older!
Lina: that might be my problem: i am not exposed to any christmas music at all! ...but the radio only plays the bad stuff...
Emma: YES! relaxed is the right word! its got so much more melody than danish!
Maria: I love that my dad makes it for me! every year he says it might be the last year he does it but i hope he never stops!
Nath: i will look that up!

advent

Its still not Christmas here on Amager. The only Christmas spirit i can muster up is this advent wreath my father made for us. i took down the bag of decorations from the attic weeks ago, but i haven't put up a single thing. But really pine-needles and candlelight is all you need!

▶ Sandra + Lisen: yeah, we talked about how skånsk (or malmöitisk -i do remember people telling me there is a big difference when i studied in malmö) probably sounds really funny/stupid/or maybe hill-billy-like to other swedes. I think thats why i like it -its such a funny and strange accent. I also remember from when i studied in Malmö how people from anywhere else in sweden didn't understand a word of danish. They just looked at me like i spoke Russian or something :)
B: Rufus elsker gaver! godt at nogen husker ham!
Brit: yes, its kind of cool that everything i do these days i do with her! a good way to get to know eachother
▶ Louise: i will show you soon! just need enough light to photograph it!
▶ Marie: how cool! its so wonderful to hear the many people who have travelled here from all over the world
Pop life: i know what you mean. if you took part in every demonstration you agreed with you could spend your life doing nothing else. i hope you can get your voice through some other way
melissa chan: ha ha -nicely spotted! those red bricks are so common in Copenhagen. When im anywhere else i miss them very much
▶ Lina: i wish i was taller so i could have shown you how the demonstration just went on and on and on!
Megan: i know, with the climate everybody has to get on board for it to work! AND those pandas are so so so so so so so so cute! thank you for the link!
Steph.: yes, i thought about how i would tell her about it when she grows up -and how i won't mention that she slept through the whole thing :)
▶ Fine little day: yes, finally things are happening right here where i am!

Sunday

Hopenhagen

so, something huge is taking place right where i live and i haven't even mentioned it. the truth is, that these days i live a pretty sheltered life inside our apartment and my focus is not on the rest of the world and the future of this world. But yesterday Elinor and i stepped out of our shell for a short while and joined the giant climate demonstration -it walked right past our home, so there was no excuse not to show your support. It was a really impressive demonstration, over 2 kilometres long and for the most part full of song and dance and well, hope. Only the end of the demonstration turned a bit ugly and made the police step in. I stole the last photo of the people who where arrested from the newspaper i work for. Hope the politicians get their act together and do something.

Saturday

malmö

the other day right when i had received the happy letter, D and E and i went to Malmö and had a splendid, kind of christmassy, day shopping gifts and other good stuff and enjoying each others company and all the lovely swedes speaking skånsk, my favourite Swedish accent. i will show you some of the good stuff later.

everyone: thank you for all your congrats and hoorays! it was lovely news to share with you!
Lina: oh, i will cross my fingers that you get the right letter, and if you don't, remember that there is always something good to do!
Maria: i haven't read nylon in a long time -i think maybe im getting too old, im not their target reader anymore :)
Lisen: you can get all sorts of great stuff in this pattern -this helmet is one of my favourites!
Ai: yeah, the face used to be a real favourite when i was younger. a good magazine to be young with

Thursday

every day

I wear the shoes i got from D for my birthday every day. i simply can't make myself put on other shoes when i go out. have to give them a break soon...
All my old Nylon and The Face magazines are going to the attic -we need more space, but don't you always..
AND yesterday i got some good news. Its related to the bad news i got this summer, but this time instead of a sad letter it was a happy letter!

▶ Sandra, chrrrristine, epe, brit: åhhrr thank you!it was just supposed to be a post about everyday things, but i see that it became more :)
Famapa: it took me two weeks to read the first page :) but then i decided one day; to day im gonna read every time she sleeps

joulukalenteri

Remember to follow Hanna Konola's christmas calender! suits my non-christmas mood perfectly!

Monday

steamy windows

Our internet is being stupid and flaky and im angry with it.
Our windows get steamy when i bake.
im still not in the christmasmood but im definitely in a winter-staying-inside-with-candles-and-goodies-mood.

Friday

the better things

some of the better things in life are good coffee, good books and sweet dogs at your feet. I try to find room for some of these better things when the best thing in life takes a nap.

▶ Máni: Thank you -and yes i think she looks huge in the first pic too -or at least much older than she is!
Maria: Im pretty sure that the santa-people across the street don't have children so i really don't get it. And my parents are about the proudest grandparents in the world! when they are here, they take turn holding her and can't leave her alone :)
Lulubeth: Ha ha you are so right!! i had not thought of that, but santa looks like he is about to jump!! "goodbye cruel world" ...
▶ Fenke: The second one is all over Copenhagen too! i do not get it!
Emma: I will let you know when i get around to the christmas spirit! still haven't gone to the attic for the decorations...
a.: Thank you :)
Min mor leger her gymnastiktime med hende. Bag efter havde hun en dansktime. Kom hjem!
▶ mado: :)
Lisen: yes im still stuck in october too! I didn't even notice november, the longest month of the year, so how can it be december??

Wednesday

scary santa

today i looked up and got a huge chock: The people on the fourth floor a cross the street from us put up a g i a n t santa outside their window! why would you do that? on the fourth floor?? i find it very scary! there is another scary santa further down she street. He is trying to crawl in the window!! breaking in! it looks creepy with the little man hanging outside the building! why?? i don't understand peoples idea of christmas... (PS. Lea! This is a competition! and i won! without an internetconnection even! -what did i win??)

grandparents

two moments from our grandparents-weekend. im trying to get in the christmas-spirit but its not going that well. I have promised myself to get the christmas-stuff from the attic t o d a y! otherwise it will be over before i get around to decorating. im home so much i shouldn't be a problem getting it done, but somehow i don't feel motivated...

▶ Everyone who has written sweet comments - THANK YOU! i love my readers!
Leen: We are trying to mix up her clothes more -otherwise she will out-grow alot of the cute things before even trying them on :)
Lina: I know -that counting poster is fun for all ages!
Gracia: yes i love that snail mail means all these great and precious things you would not be able to translate into emails! can't wait until there are no more bills in the mail and only good stuff from good friends!
Ines: Oh thank you so much for you comment and for the link! good stuff!
▶ Lisen: That guy in the cowboyhat is D being santa clause at christmas eve a couple of years ago. We always have a santa who brings the presents and he always has a new style: that year was Cowboy-Santa -others have been Sailor-Santa and Bicyclist-Santa! -and yes, time is a crazy thing! a moment ago i had 4 cookies -now there is only three and i think time ate it! The red shirt is from when i was a baby :)
mothersvea: oh, wish you could go back in time -or maybe just return to mexico one day :)
Maria: I will do it! the tattoo! just not when im breastfeeding... i think that might be stupid.. and yes! she really looks like a Nisse! i had not thought about that when i dressed her in red and grey -and the day before december too! hi hi
▶ Kiwitz: yay! i did not know that was what they were called -now i have googled it and found so many cool pictures! AND Elinor was born on Dia de Muertos! cool no?
Anni: It would be cool to make paper-cutouts like these! but difficult.. always good with a challenge!
sovende: Yeah -skeletons should be a all-year thing :)
Veja cecilia: I know! i love it when she spots something colourful and is totally amazed by it!
Nath: Thank you for the sweet sweet comment! the first week we looked at her and at our one year old nephew and thought: how can see grow that much in one year?? now i can't believe how big she has gotten in one month! she will surely be that big in one year!
▶ Hannna: Thank you -and congratulations on your little boy! i have been following your beautiful pictures with little hints of him! precious! and that fox mask! wow!
Tilda: Six weeks? wow they are close! congratulations on your little boy!
▶ Flora: I can't believe she is all ready two months! i remember thinking when you were pregnant that we would give birth almost at the same time, but now she is twice as old as Elinor! crazy!
Helt utroligt. Håber hun beholder sit røde hår!
▶ Søhesten: tak for din søde kommentar!

Monday

4 weeks

Elinor is 4 weeks old today! it seems crazy to me that we have had her for a month now! a month?? all ready?? it seems more like a week -and then at the same time it feels like she has always been here! im looking forward to getting out more soon and maybe getting around to photographing other things than cute little babies so this won't turn in to a complete baby-blog and i'll end up driving all of you away! And replies! i will get back to replies soon too! D always wants his computer back right when im blogging :)

Friday

Our little girl has grown real (panda)bear-feet! happy weekend everybody! One of Elinors grandmothers is visiting today and tomorrow two of her other grandparents will be here :)
