Wednesday

1, 2, 3

So! Today this blog turns 3 years old!!

A lot has happened in those three years (marriage, elinor and what not) -what i find the most remarkable is that I have gone from taking almost no photos at all with a very crummy camera three years ago to having high resolution documentation of every moment of my life! what a gift! I now have over 23.000 photos saved on flickr!

And you guys! over 400.000 visits from 133 countries this year alone! Don't even know how many comments! Its fantastic!

So thank you! For being such an inspiring community! And if you leave a comment here before next monday (the 17th of january in the evening) you might just be the winner of a little thank-you-gift :)

Hooray!

Monday

drum roll, please

Hoooray! Congratulations to Lina from the blog From Lina who is the lucky winner of the Adeline Affre cloud ring! i just wanted to keep picking names - wish i could send you all a golden cloud! Thank you all for participating and for all the poetic and sweet comments! It has been so great to hear from so many of you! Remember, you can still visit Adeline's online store and pick up some of her beautiful jewellery!

Wednesday

mailbox-bear

The latest creature in our little home is this bear on our front door. Our building recently got mailboxes by the entrance so our throw-in won't be used any more and since cold air passed through it i temporarily closed it with newspaper and this little bear face

Everyone: ha ha -i find it so funny how many of you stepped out of the shadow to get your hands on Adelines beautiful ring! I have a lot of new blogs to visit! Be sure to visit Adeline Affres online store -maybe pick out a substitute if you don't win... monday is so far away!

Saturday

chips

i tried making home made chips from beet roots, parsnip and potatoes. Conclusion? a bit too much work for too few chips -but it looked pretty! Elinor got this swing for christmas from my parents. The cool thing is, that she can use it all ready! I made a new cover for it though, it was originally a bit too red for our living room

Tuesday

Monday

totem

We needed some more storage room for all of E's stuff! Birth, Christmas and baptism = lots and lots of presents. So we bought some shoe storage from ikea and turned them in to a totem pole!

Lisen: Yes, he was a very intelligent dog! I don't think singing is wise thing to teach your dog though! The pictures in the dark purple dress are from her baptism -its the same dress me, my sister and ivan wore and my mother made it!
Petr: Funny that snow covered trees looks the same everywhere!
Emma: Thanks -and funny that you called her a parcel! thats what we call her all the time: Pakke -or "pakke der kan snakke" (a parcel that talks -its from a danish childrens rim)
▶ Lina: Thank you -so is the cold :)
Brit: Yes, i love that frown too!
Emma from 50 danska kvadrat: hi hi yes -and sometimes she would be startled and her arms would go up in the air :)

disco

i made these disco-balls for some Christmas-present-necklaces this year and i stole the idea directly from a very cool jewellery maker i met this December. Stealing like that is not cool, but the idea was just too appealing. i promise i won't try to make money off them -instead you should all check out rottenstang.com where Lene Rottenstang shows some of her curious, complicated and beautiful neck pieces - and if rumours are true you will be able to buy them from this site any day now.
Im sorry for the holiday silence here on the blog but i will return soon full speed.

christmas sling

this is a close up of a new sling i made. its my Christmas sling so it will match my Christmas wardrobe :) snow is falling heavy and white and im going into, if not christmas mood, then at least christmas mode.

▶ everyone: thank you for all your comments! christmas is neering and i don't have much time for blogging so replies will have to wait a bit.

Sunday

slinging it

This is me and Elinor slinging it. She likes it more and more and its almost a sure way to get her to sleep if she is grumpy. This is also how she joins me when i make breakfast in the morning -i soon expect her to be able to make the coffee while i get the bread ready. (just realised it looks like she is always wearing the same clothes :) well she almost does i guess...)

Saturday

monster dresser

i have not yet shown you the little dresser we bought for the babys clothes! as usual nothing that is brought in to this home can be left alone, so now the dresser is a little monster with sharp teeth that eats up the clothes!

Lisen: yes i really like the dark background too! it makes the flowers more like a pattern i think!
Famapa: i don't find any alternative as satisfying as rearranging... i love it! but i don't do it often enough. somehow i find too good solutions that i really don't want to change... even when i see something new i really want... hmm.. conundrum!
Avelottes: yeah, wallpaper could be really cool!
Maria: have a great weekend! with colours and rhubarb preferably!

Sunday

sleepy bee

I made another little softie for the baby. Its some sort of bee and is meant to be the babys first softie since it its small and has a simple and baby-friendly form. it does not have a name yet... any suggestions?

Monday

mahmoud

more sewing projects finished! among other things three extra pillows for the couch, a purple/black blanket and a camel named Mahmoud. I have finally finished some things for myself as well: shirts/dresses that will be suited for breastfeeding -now there is a fun design challenge: how do i ensure easy access to my breasts at all time :) im sorry for the images you might get from reading this, but when you get pregnant you get used to thoughts of that kind. Im bad at photographing the clothes that i sew. maybe i will get D in on a photo session one day. The last photo is what rufus looks like when you call his name while photographing: he has an instant pose :)

Sopchan: that pinapple sounds like a nice habit -i have been eating alot of apples!
Hello Sandwich: apropos todays post - notice the zipper in the stripy thing im wearing -breastfeeding :)
Lisen: Hope you get some lazy days too after all your travelling!
Abeo: :) Thank you! it can be really straining to carry around a little kicker, but mostly its wonderful!
Mado: oh thankyou -you are so sweet.
▶ Lina: I know i just read that too! so funny to think that she is where i was six months ago! seems like years!
NE: thank you - i think?
Maria: yes, its so great that relaxing is just allowed :)

Saturday

well, well, well

The past days have been mostly like the first picture; blurry, snotty, sore-throaty and with lots of tea w. honey and home made get-better-soup = carrots, beets, garlic, chilli, ginger and other good stuff that will make you hot and healthy. And i am better now. just a little snotty and cough-y still :) This post needed something a bit more happy now that im feeling better, so this is a little duck i have made recently. I do not have much experience sewing softies and find it quite difficult, especially since i mostly don't use a pattern. But this duck turned out all right i think. I will show you more soon + some the softie-inspiration i have used (tip: type in softies at flickr and you will find so much good stuff) Hope your weekend is happy around the world.

Flora: thank you! -we will be expecting the baby just around the very end of october -but who knows with babies?? im sure i will want it to come out sooner (as soon as i hit 37 weeks :)) and im also pretty sure it will stay in there longer than my due date! im thinking you are just a few weeks further along than me!?
Lisen: Ive only read Muleum by Loe and found his writing good, but the story sort of annoyed me :) i will definitely read the others in the series too!
Syrah: Thank you so much for the book-tips! I was strongly recommended Extremely loud... by a friend of mine, but i actually did not really like it -or maybe i liked it, but i didn't get caught up in it like i expected.
Brit: thank you so much for the book tip -thats a new movie too right?
Anna Caroline: no, i haven't read that! im loving all the good book tips!
Veja cecilia: Thank you! i have only read Muleum before this one and definitely liked Doppler more!
misako mimoko: I am! thank you very much. I have thought of reading aloud for the baby, but haven't done it much. i sing to it sometimes though :)
Celine: oh i will look in to that tea! im really really a coffee person, but im quite fond of white tea with fresh ginger + i like the thought of how healthy that combo is :)
Jana: Oh, thank you so much for stopping by! hope you will come back again :) and thank you so much for the book tip too! I don't know that one
Hello Sandwich: Thank you! it has actually been quite nice to take it so easy the past week and just read in bed -especially since my head has been clear most of the time -i can really feel how much my body likes a good break like that!

fabric pearls

here is yet another sewing project. this one is for me though. its a scarf that looks a bit like a soft, fabric pearl necklace (not meant to be worn around your face obviously) -if that makes any sense :) hope you will all have a nice weekend. i feel like maybe i made too many plans, but they are small ones with lots of space in between, so it will only be fun.

Flora: The crib we got from my parents has these three wooden beads on one of the poles and i clearly remember playing with them as a small child. i like that :)
Lisa Kjellerød: thank you so much - its still a bit too weird to think of my self as a mother :)
girlheartfood: Thank you. it does take time, but on the other hand its not something you need to concentrate too much on while doing it. that helps :)
Hayley: Thank you
Neftos: they really really are! i once had a pattern for a penguin-softie, but i can't seem to find it now!
Lisen: yeat, our baby will have the coolest crib in the hood
Mieke Willems: YES! you have to sneak up on the next poodle you meet and feel the fur! total lamb softness!
D: you are dreaming! we don't have enough space for a whippet and a baby AND a standard poodle...
Kiwitz: hi hi thank you so much -one of my friends just wrote me an email saying the same thing -and i would sell them! if i had more time!! time time time.
Hello Sandwich: yes, our kid will have no where to go but art school ...unless all the bright colours will make him/her rebel and become a goth accountant or something...

Thursday

bumper

another one of my sewing projects: a soft bumper for the baby's crib. it has got triangles (of course) on one side and penguins on the other. and yes, we all ready have the crib! its the one i slept in as a baby, so my parents brought it over last time the visited. its a little weird having it around, but on the other hand i like having stuff ready :)

Lea: i think the teeny-tiny poodles and the big ones are the best :)
Brit: Poodles have such a bad rep -people think they are useless and snobby and ridiculous, but i really think it is unfair. They used to be trained as water-rescue dogs and thats why their fur was trimmed in such a funny way -you know with the poms and such: that way joints and vital organs were kept warm while removing the rest of the heavy fur :)
Maria: i really like the cut too -i think one of the important things that makes him look so cool is that the ears are trimmed too! that way it does not look so frou frou
Stefanie: that is so strange! i have seen a whole bunch of these cuts -luckily i don't think it actually hurts the dog -i just think its silly!
Lisen: aww you have to bring your camera when you meet that sweet whippet-pup! and yes! a grand danois would be so cool! they are supposed to be so friendly!
Gracia: i never knew they were so soft! its like having a little lamb for a pet!
Louise: i know! i can't help smiling everytime i see the picture!

singer

my sewing machine does not get much rest these days. Here are a few of the things i have finished: pillows for our kitchen bar-stools, a quilted blanket from the marimekko-fabric, a changing pad in black with white dots for our brio wall changing-table (which we got used in a really good bargain -love that!) and a mini chain of flags for the pram and over the bed maybe.

at swim-two-birds: hi hi -he is not a small bird -maybe 60-70 cm :)
Epe: i find ostriches sort of scary! such a weird running bird!
Emma: so cool that you know them! snøvsen is very very cool!
