berlin berlin

...it started with a big big surprise... Yes, it was all my friends totally surprising me by knocking on my door wednesday afternoon to give me my hen night/bachelorette party/polterabend. Now, in denmark you would traditionally dress up the bride to be in some embarrassing costume, get her drunk and take her all over the city selling kisses on the street, going strip-bowling or to make erotic cakes... or something like that. something that i had made clear was not my thing -and something that i have had to make repeatedly clear was not my thing since my friends like teasing me... So true to all the teasing they had done, they brought with them colourful booze, dirty straws, embarrassing signs and a hen costume when they knocked on my door. I was so happy to see them all and so scared that they would force me to have a traditional polterabend. Turns out: they are all the best friends a girl like me could ever have! when we were eating delicious home-made burgers at our neighbours a moment later, they revealed that we were all flying to Berlin in a couple of hours. How amazing is that? We were nine girls -three more joining us down there, and all i had to do was go pack a bag and follow along. a-ma-zing. We were to do only things i wanted to which meant brunch and coffee and a little shopping and more coffee and beers and talking talking talking and dinner and beers and brunch and coffee and talking talking talking. just hanging out in wonderful berlin with the best people in the world! we had dinner at unsicht-Bar which is a restaurant where you eat your dinner in a 100% dark room, being guided by blind waiters so you can experience what it is like to be without sight. it was one of the most crazy experiences i have ever had. And then we flew back friday night, tired from not sleeping much and so happy that i have the best friends in the whole world! can't believe they where able to keep it a secret! there were only a few weird occurrences where i had thought: what is going on here -like my pregnant sister coming to stay with us and not saying when she would be leaving.. im all smiles right now.

Your friends planned such a great surprise for you! I had a non-wedding wedding two years ago because I didn't really want any fuss. Sometimes I still think about it and wondered if I should have made more of an effort. Ha ha...

Anyway, counting down to the day now?

P.S. What sort of food do they serve at the dark restaurant?

yes im beginning to get counting-fever -and making lists! the hardest thing is that it is outside and you just don't know about the weather until like the day before..

-i didn't want to mention it in the post but the food at the dark restaurant actually wasn't that good. a bit boring and ordinary. we all talked about how the tasting experience could have been better. spices and fruit and fresh vegetables worked really well but big pieces of meat and bland cooked vegetables -not so much.. still it was worth it for the experience!

Lisen: Berlin is the best! i have been there something like 5 times and i really love the city -cheap and cool and many good areas to spend time! go go go! you can usually fly really cheap from copenhagen which is great cus it only takes 40 min.
