Friday

new beginnings

I've started two new jobs this week! they are both related to news and they both require me getting up crazy early in the morning! its strange seeing the world and the city that early. this is what it looked like this morning. The moon was so big, but also very hard to capture on camera. You can see some of the things i do at one of my new jobs here and here and this is the other place i have started working.

Anna: just like keeping things in hearts makes the things more special, eating heart shaped things makes them tastier!
Hanna: it didn't work here. its still so grey and cold!
▶ Laura: The little cup is one of three designs we got for our wedding! they are made by a small danish (i think) company called darkling. Unfortunately the last time i checked they did not have any left.
Sandra: Haha -rufus with a wig!
Lea: The marshmallows are 8 kr in Rema! and the light was so beautiful!
Emma: Imaging lying under the big blue bedspread eating heart shaped marshmallows! pefect!
▶ Lisen: As sweet as the marshmallows them selves. there are non left now..
Sylvester and mama: Nicely put! it is style!
Mother Svea: I think i was affected by your candy-post when i bought those marshmallows!
Fanny: Oh i would love to see it in real life!! does it look as good as i think? Happy friday and happy weekend!

Thursday

it was freezing and totally clear and perfect for heart shaped marshmallows and coffee -yesterday! today is more grey and dark. i don't remember another winter where i have longed as much for spring!

Infing: he is the best dog in the world
Katrine Ny: the photos of your parents dog are so cool!! so funny!

ai xxx: thank you so much! it seems like you eat so much good food! im a little jealous!
Júlía: What café do you work at? I would love a sealpelt cos our apartment is sooo cold these days and i never seem to get warm
Margit: So funny that you found it! im so glad you did and that you like it! im still dreaming of the polarbear

Wednesday

Vík Prjónsdóttir

i first found Vik Prjónsdóttir last spring and have been crawing that blue anchor bedspread ever since! i was just reminded of it when i saw her wonderful Sealpelts over at What's wrong with the zoo. Wouldn't you just want to live in one of those these days? i do! -if only i had all the money in the world.

▶ Katrine NY: i totally want to see your parents dog going crazy! Rufus is usually so calm it always surprises me when i goes crazy like that -he can move so quickly!
Lea: YEah its kinda like when he escapes into your apartment and he knows he is not supposed to, so he runs around franticly!
Sylvester and mama: he is good fun!
Asphalt and air: they make you really happy, these pictures!
Laura: That is so crazy! thank god it was a cat so it could handle the fall! it was so much fun looking through all the photos, because i just kept clicking away and sometimes there would be one frame without rufus and then he would be back in the next!
Pappi: Oh dear pappi -you are the best! love your comment!
B: Hvor er du god til at beskrive ham -den beskrivelse kan han være stolt af!
▶ Brit: Its so crazy when he just seems to jump straight into the air or when he lands half way off the couch! i want to see your puppy going crazy!!
Mins: i love that poster. its one of my favourite things! its by Stine B Tranekjær and we also got another of her posters!
Nina: Godt at se dig online igen :) ja han er en hopper!

Tuesday

A C T I O N

well as i said yesterday: That was the beauty-shots -This is the action-shots = Rufus going bananas! Even with my camera set on action-quick-shots i could not capture anything but a crazy blur! -sometimes he does fall down...

Wide-eyed: He loves the camera!
Design for mankind: He is an attention-grabber for sure!
Brit: i don't know if you still say that to these photos?
Sylvester and mama: The coolest in the pack!
Emma: I get scared when i falls because of his skinny legs, but he never hurts them seriously -they say whippets are like arabian horses: skinny but sturdy!
Júlía: I love that one too! i love it when a catch him with his tongue out!
Sasha: Dogs are such an easy target -i some times have to tell my self to take less pictures of rufus!
Lisen: Det tror jeg næsten ikke på! en sne-skov lyder fantastisk! og at varme sig foran ilden bag efter! We bought our sofa cheap and second hand because we wanted a BIG on too. It was originally a corner-sofa but i took out the corner and bolted together the two sides. i have never seen anyone else with a five person sofa like that! we also took away the side polstering to give it a more clean look
Lena: I like it very much too! the sofa is just long enough for the three of us:)
Famapa: That would be so cool! little whippet-cats! and Rufus can be so cat like in his behaviour!
pigeon.toed: yeah i think the might be :)

Krissy: :) THANK you so much! lover your blog too!
Gracia: everyone should have their own scull-cave! its crucial! -and yeah it was a pretty perfect sunday!
Tommy: bear-paws and skeleton-cloves for everyone! -the bear-feet were actually really a size too small, but they were really cheap and i so wanted them -and now they have expanded and fit me perfectly!

Sunday

its co-o-o-o-ld outside! no snow, but ice. a good time to curl up inside when possible, and cover up good when going out! i have to take a picture of D in the yellow cap you can see in the picture! he looks like some sort of penguin!

A little tribute to my father who has just done a lecture in germany -in german(!) with great success! He has so many talents: He is an amazing painter as you have already seen. My father has incredible green fingers and i envy them very much -this amazing orchid is always in full bloom when i visit. And my father bakes the most amazing bread that i can never make as delicious -here in a great combo with a salami from home too. Dad is the coolest.

MademoiselleM: Thank you so much! im glad you stopped by!
Stride: :) hvor er du sød! håber det er mest glad!

Friday

heart collection

I have a little collection of plastic hearts. Somehow keeping things in a heart makes them seem more valuable. Here everyday life is creeping its way back in, but i think its okay. This christmas vacation has been worth gold (do you say that in english? in danish we say something is worth gold: guld værd)

Stefanie: Yes it can seem like alot of strange things, but if you just keep soy and wasabi and ricevinegar in your regular stock, it does not take as much to get sushi-ready!
Hanna: Can't wait for your pom-pom guide!
When Skies are..: Thanks! it was so yummy and i always like food that is pretty a little extra
Mieke+Willems: You too!
Júlía: Go for it! its really easy once you have tried it! and except for the rice, which is very easy too, it does not take long at all! -and yes! my parents are very inventive -and courages that they bought it for us!
Lena: Yummy indeed
Veja Cecilia: Your kids will probably love making sushi!! its so much fun, you can make your own favourites and it so tasty even to kids!
Sarah: ha ha -thank you so much!

Thursday

✴ Ungt ✴ Blod's ✴ New ✴ Years ✴ Home ✴ Made ✴ Sushi ✴ Guide ✴

Here it is: Ungt Blod's New Years Home Made Sushi Guide -yesterday we had home-made pizza for lunch and homemade sushi for dinner! mmm... you should eat like that every day! This is my little guide to some simple maki-rolls. I am in no way an authority when it comes to sushi -i have no training and i don't really care if i do it "right" or not. But if you want to try out home made sushi this is a simple start! You will have to stop by an asian supermarket or the asia-aisle in your normal supermarket and pick up: Sushi rice wasabi-paste nori (the seaweed sheets) rice vinegar or sushi vinegar soy and what ever you want to put in the maki. I like: black sesames salmon tuna avocado mango cucumber and carrots -but really you can do what ever you want. The fish should be frozen for at least 48 hours to kill parasites and make it safe to eat raw. And if you are pregnant you should probably stay away from tuna. Last night i made rolls with salmon, carrots, cucumber, avocado and black sesames. Here we go:

follow the instructions that comes with the sushi rice. I rinse them, then soak them for about an hour, then cook them and let them cool down with a moist cloth over. When they are cooked you should mix them with sushi-vinegar; either some that is premixed or rice vinegar that you heat up gently with salt and sugar. Cooking sushi-rice is an artform -that i have not yet mastered! mine often gets a bit overcooked (yesterday too). But even if you cannot perfect the art, you can still make delicious sushi!

Chop your ingredients into sticks and mix some soy and wasabi paste (for dipping the maki in)

now for the fun part: It can make it easier to have a little mat to help rolling, but you can do without one too. Place the nori with the shiny side down and place a rim of rice on the lower half. Place your ingredients in the middle of the rice.

Then simply roll the nori tight, squeezing a little, until the empty half of the nori closes the roll (you can use a little rice vinegar or water to close the roll) Then you cut of the ends of the roll (i save them in a box for lunch the next day) and slice the roll as you like -i like my maki pretty flat. Serve them with the soy/wasabi mix and eat them with your hands! its really funny to make sushi -and to include your dinner-guests in the making too! Voila!

yesterday, for the first time, i tried to make an "inside-out" -where the rice is on the outside. You simply place the rice on the nori as usual and the turn the nori over (using baking-paper or something to cover the mat). Then you place the ingredients on the nori and carefully roll. Remember that the rice rim should be wider and on the last half of the nori. -i was not too happy with my first attempt and they can get really sticky eating too.

▶ Lena: I can't wait to we can have a kid over to play in it! i just know how much i would have loved it as a child!
Famapa: So cool that we are not the only ones with a quiet new years! it was such a nice day/night! and the cave truely is a-ma-zing! yesterday we tried fitting in there all three :)
Happy new year neighbour!
Mado: Happy new year to you too!
Hanna: haha -i love that something can be me! and it really is!
Lea: Of course -just knock when you need a little cave-time!
Emma: haha-i will tell my parents that you said so! i knew my mother would understand the crazy-coolness of the cave!
Stefanie: yes, that picture of me reading in the cave really caputures the cozyness!
Lisen: As soon as i saw it in the store i could not get it out of my head! and i also knew Rufus would love it! he is a cave-dog!
