housetour part 4 - kitchen

SO this is a long one! this is the kitchen! the last room of our little home AND my favourite! i think it was the possibilities of this room that set this place apart from the rest and made us choose it! it double as an office space and that's the best combo ever -cooking while the other one is sitting at the computer or reading or what ever -talking to your friends while making coffee. i love those times! Another reason why i love this room is probably that i put up this kitchen myself! im the handy-man in this house and im really proud of this kitchen -both for putting it up and for creating a kitchen like this with the little money we had (thank you IKEA -of course :)).

> when skies are grey: :) ha ha! Tricked you! the neat stacks are D's and all the mess is mine! he once tried to stack my clothes as nicely and it lasted of about a day -well maybe two!

housetour part 3 - bedroom

So that was the living room -this is the bedroom! it feels like such a luxury to have a bedroom that is not combined with some other function -office or what ever. Its just for sleeping! ahh.. All the flags are from our wedding and im so happy to be reminded of that day all the time. The empty wall above the bed is actually not empty at all any more! photos of this will come later... P.s. -can you spot: A: which clothes are D's and which is mine? -neat stacks vs. a mess in a box. B: the beloved fox pullover?

We got him at IKEA actually -undercover of the fact that we were about to become uncle and aunt. We haven't passed him on to Ivan yet because he is just too soft to let go.. housetour part2 -living room

This is our living room. We have lived in this place for just over a year and are really happy with it! its our own and before this we moved around alot! its on the (danish) third floor and has quite alot of light. It is a living room + a bedroom + a bathroom + a kitchen/workspace. its perfect for the three of us. (my dad painted the giant painting! isnt it fantastic?)

housetour part1 -welcome

okay. so quite some time ago i had the idea that i would do a photo tour of our home on this blog so you could all see where i live my life. But then life happened and there were too many other exiting things to blog about and the photos of our place has just been sitting in a folder on my computer. SO today just decided that now is the time! Here it is -part one of my little house tour: the entrance!

busy bee

I just talked with a friend who asked me what i was doing today and when it listed it up it sounded... well not like a good day. hope it turns out better than it sounds: Im doing budgets, i have a headache, i need to tidy up and clean the whole apartment, i have to study, i have to do some work on the computer that hurts my hand -and the weekend looks the same -and im hungry..... wait! i can do something about the last one! Hope the list for your weekend is better!

october

today is gonna be a busy day so im gonna leave you with some october mood. I love october! its the best month of fall -more real fall than september and slightly less killing cold than november (+less Christmas decorations!!) AND both D's and my birthday are in October! less than a week till mine!

11 little details

I got tagged! by the wonderful Mettch! There are a few things i would conclude after answering these questions: a: im not good at picking favourites b: except when it comes to coffee and chocolate c: i tend to ramble on and on instead of just answering the questions.... :)
1. Clothes shop hmm... maybe Weekday -in malmø, not copenhagen -such a good mix of affordable stuff and fantastic brands.
2. Furniture shop Genbrugscenteret! The local recycling-centre with great stuff. Im all for IKEA as well but D has thought me to only buy a few things there :) we usually take a long time picking out our furniture and its hard to name one good place to find them. shop around!
3. Sweet. Chocolate! all the way. But it has to be dark. really dark -around 85%...
4. City. lets go with living in the moment and say Copenhagen... but i really don't have a favourite so if i could i would divide my time between Copenhagen, Reykjavik and Berlin! Top three cities i would like to visit next: Göteborg, Tokyo and New York. (P.S: does anybody know the cheapest place to stay in Göteborg??)
5. Drink. coffee. good coffee. lots of good coffee. lots and lots of good coffee. no tea. just good coffee....
6. Music. im bad with genres because they never seem to fit. instead i'll name some names off my ipod (its actually kind of short because i use a lot of my 2gb for podcasts that i listen to when i work -but when something becomes my favourite its stays on the list for a long time): Antony & the Johnsons, Arcade Fire, Choir of Young Believers, Hank Williams, Jens Lekman, Johnny Cash, Joy Division, M.I.A., Marybell Katastrophy, No kids, Rufus Wainwright, The Smiths, Speaker Bite Me, Suburban kids with Biblical Names...
7. TV-Series. i love tv. i love tv-series even more. anything revolving around crimesolving or set in a hospital is my kind of show. Some all time favourites are E.R., Bones, CSI, E.R. and Colombo -oh yeah, and i know every episode of Futurama forwards and backwards
8. Film. it might be obvious but all things Wes Andersson - and good old stuff from the sixties and seventies - I need to look at our movie collection to think up some titles -all i can remember is The Sting :)
9. Workout. i love yoga but forget to do it often
i like to run but only on trait-mills sadly because i don't like paying fitness center fees. Rufus would love it if i could get my act together and get a real good running habit
10. Pastries. Actually i have a weird intolerance to pastries -all things resembling croissants i feel totally sick afterwards. for a long time that included pancakes but thankfully i have found a way of making them that does not make me sick! phew -can you imagine not being able to eat pancakes?? its tough! i still never order them when eating out, cause i don't know what the tricker is exactly.
-if we expand the category to include cake of different kind i would have to say THAT I LOVE CAKE! and its hard to name a favourite, but brownies are a really good bet
11 Coffee. well i probably LOVE coffee even more than i LOVE cake. I usually drink it at home, because im trying to save money and i hate paying alot of money for a crappy latte at a café. The only place i will buy a cup of coffee (always a cappucino) as often as it is possible is at Coffee Collective = the best coffee in the world -and the people are pretty good too. you should check out their concept because its really cool. At home i make my very own espresso-milk-combo = pretty dark + lots and lots of thick foam -and the size of a tall latte.... I have a cheap krups espresso machine, my bialetti milk-foamer and a cooking thermometer to get the temperature of the milk just right. gosh how i would like a really good espresso machine someday... maybe like this one...

Forlæns & Baglæns is a del.icio.us tapas restaurant in Århus and a retro-lamp-paradise! mm.. grilled tiger-shrimp with aïoli - sorry no pictures of the food! it went down too fast :)

> Maikki: The weather forecast for this week had big dark clouds all over it but the sun keeps shining... at least it was dark enough when i got up to light candles in the kitchen

I find that to get up i just have to get out of the bed to go to the bathroom and then stay there for just 1-2 minutes more not giving in to the urge of running back to bed -i find that those 1-2 minutes makes all the difference of being able to stay up! also a every warm pair of slippers :)
> Karin: Yeah it was a different kind of train that we usually take for that trip -it was slower too, but it has great light!
> Anne: Luckily knitwear can be so great and i have missed it all summer :)
